PSL Freight and SkanTrans-PSL achieve AEO Status

AEO_final csAEO (Authorised Economic Operator), is issued to companies who have undergone stringent
audits of their operations and business compliance. Customs level compliance for both of the
PSL Groups component business entities is a reflection of the level of competence, integrity
and financial robustness PSL and SkanTrans-PSL offer.

PSL Freight Limited – AEO ref: GB AEO/00064/14.
SkanTrans-PSL Limited – AEO ref: GB AEO/00063/14.

This status is internationally recognised and in certain countries and corporations, has become
a pre-requisite when choosing business partners, and this is set to become more and more the
case as time moves on.

The other benefits Customs are moving to are priority treatment for certain Customs processes
and physical controls. Transit movements and declarations can in theory be processed quicker
with the reliance on accurate data and records from an AEO trader. The AEO accredited
trader having been audited and compliance confirmed, should see less intrusive checks and delays
when processing cargo and give access to additional simplified procedures all of which the PSL Group
will utilise for the benefit of their customers.

The PSL Group has a long established service from the garment
producing area of Prato and FLorence to its UK terminals,
says commercial director Richard Gibbs. Together with its
partner Becosped it is now introducing a groupage service
between Milan, Maldon, Hinckley and Manchester. This will
initially start with departures leaving on Tuesdays and
Fridays for both import and export and will be supplemented
with daily departures using Paris as a hub.
With Prato able to service Rome, Naples and further south,
the Milan service will give the PSL Group total coverage of
Italy.
Volumes to and from Prato have remained constant over recent
years, Gibbs continues. He adds: “The decision to develop a
service to Milan shows that confidence is growing and that an
acceleration of current growth is around the corner.
The PSL Group had focused on Prato due to PSL’s strengths in
the fashion sector and, “over recent years we have seen
developments of other industry sectors moving into the
region. Prato allows us to bridge the divide between north
and south,” Gibbs explains.

PSL Dover back "Macmillan Cancer Support" Coffee Morning Appeal

dover coffee morningPSL Dover occupy the seaward wing on the 1st floor of Lord Warden House in the Western Docks Dover, a building owned by the Port of Dover and occupied by various Customs Clearance Agents.
The staff at PSL are nothing if not a team, and when they suggested the MacMillan Cancer Support coffee morning, it was an idea instantly adopted by all and driven with energy and enthusiasm.
The Port of Dover supported by allowing use of a free office along with café style tables, chairs and table linen, and electricity. Staff, families and friends all lent their support in baking cakes and producing some calorific masterpieces. Urns were loaned by a local school, and Dover Rugby Club who loaned an urn plus plates, cups, napkins etc.

Raffle prizes were donated by all involved adding a further revenue stream, and with a statement pinned up that all donations would have gift aid applied we were ready for what the day had to offer.
So in Room 102 Lord Warden House – MacMillan Cancer Support – Coffee Morning Friday 26th September 2014 – took off.
With a relay of PSL staff, friends and family manning the tea/coffee urns, and from the PSL office people farther afield were cajoled into making donations. The response was magnificent from the PSL Group and several others, but many were already involved in coffee mornings of their own (which is great for the charity), and we are delighted with the response from everyone.

The event raised £467.81 which has been made up to £500.00

Thanks once again to all those who supported the event, and especially the staff, families and friends at PSL Dover who put in a great effort.

Richard Catt
Director – PSL Dover.
